As we kick off the year 2025, the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is gearing up for one of the most exciting and defining moments in campus life—the JKUSA elections. Set to commence on 11th March 2025, these elections will determine the future student leaders who will represent your interests and voice important issues on campus. This year’s elections promise to be dynamic, competitive, and engaging, offering every student a chance to participate in shaping the university’s future.

Key Election Dates to Remember

Mark your calendars and stay on track with these critical dates:

  • Election Portal Opens: 3rd February 2025

  • Application Deadline: 17th February 2025

  • Election Day for Hall/School Representatives: 11th March 2025

The election portal (https://vote.jkuat.ac.ke/) will be the hub for applications. Be sure to bookmark the site and make the most of this opportunity.

Positions Up for Grabs

This year, students will vote for the following key positions:

  • School Representatives: These leaders represent specific academic schools and ensure that student academic concerns are communicated to JKUSA and the university administration.

  • Hall Representatives: These individuals advocate for students' welfare within the university’s residential halls, ensuring comfortable living conditions and addressing accommodation challenges.

  • Delegates: Represents student in electing the Executive members Of JKUSA including the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson amongst others.

New Year Robbery: JKUAT Comrades at Neema Hostel, Gate C, Lose Household Property

During New Year celebrations, unknown individuals broke into the hostel by forcefully accessing doors and windows, making away with household property belonging to the residents. The incident occurred while most students were out celebrating, unaware of the unfolding theft at their residence. The comrades have not yet returned to their rooms, as they are still engaged in New Year festivities. The extent of the loss remains unclear, but residents fear the burglars might have made away with valuable household items and personal belongings. The burglars appear to have targeted the hostel knowing it would be largely unoccupied during the celebrations.
